Babies First Zoo Trip

We took advantage of the $5 admission and the beautiful weather and headed out to the zoo with our friends. When we got there they were so excited about the animal posters at the entrance and I just kept thinking to myself, "They have no idea what is about to happen." All three girls were really excited to see the Giraffe's and it didn't disappoint.

Wes started the day out mad at me because she couldn't sit in the stroller but she did pretty great. The biggest surprise was the ant eaters (which you could see really close) and a crazy active snake that Remi that was so awesome. She kept staring at it moving around and saying "wow-wee." We were able to make it through the whole zoo and wore everyone right out. However, Remi got a second wind near the end and was strutting along like nobody's business. Tired Weslie enjoyed the opportunity to take her seat in the stroller.

We ended the day with a carousel ride, which they all really enjoyed! I am really loving the girls getting a little older so that we can all do things together.

February Recap

This month we found a new favorite park nearby.

The twins discovered a newfound love for singing time in nursery and stayed their first 30 minutes in there by themselves.

The girls went on a cute "airplane" ride to Disneyland.

Kevin and I had an awesome Valentine's dinner at the Capitol Grille, courtesy of Cisco.

The girls had fun at a small Valentine's exchange party and Wes had her first V-day school party. She and Kevin worked on writing her name on all the Valentines a few at a time the whole week before.

Penny got spayed.

We had a few really nice days. The twins practiced riding their bikes. Remi really loved it! Weslie made her first neighborhood friends which was really fun. I think we are really starting to plant some roots here in Wylie.

Sophie and Remi are really making huge strides and coming out of their shells. Each week they are taking bigger steps at a faster pace. I am loving it! They are able to play at the park on their own and I am able to talk to other moms! They are getting more comfortable in nursery and staying alone longer. Of course, it always helps when the nursery leaders make a huge car ramp that turns into a slide. The first time Sophie went down she had a huge wedgie and flashed everyone a full cheek. 

Toothless!

Weslie had mentioned that her tooth was loose but we thought she was just wiggling it loose and dismissed it. Then one day I looked at her and saw that a permanent tooth was starting to come in! So on January 29th Kevin let her slam the back door and rip that sucker out. (No one tells you how hard it is to tie string on a slobbery tooth)

The tooth fairy came through her tiny door and took the tiny tooth out of the special box and left a few dollars and sparkly foot prints. She also left a tiny vile of fairy dust. Weslie was very upset that the tooth fairy left dollars instead of coins, but luckily the 2nd bottom tooth came out just a few days later and the tooth fairy delivered on the gold coins.

Naps and Sh*t

Wes stopped napping at 18 months so I have really tried hard to keep the twins in the routine of napping or having quiet time. Some days they lay right down and go to sleep. Some days they don't seem very tired and I let them skip it (I know...they need consistency!) And then there are the days where I can tell that they are very tired and we play Russian Roulette. I put them in their room against their will and hope for the best. If I wait more than 20 minutes, knowing that they aren't asleep I may be in for a surprise...hence the Russian Roulette.
For some reason nap time has ALWAYS relaxed their bowels and left us with no naps or interrupted naps. For the past few months they have decided that playing in their shiz (or in their case...sometimes their sister's shiz) is more fun than napping.

So for all my fellow moms out there here are my tried and true steps for cleaning up a shitty situation:

Step 1: Throw those babies in the shower. Not a cold shower...this isn't a punishment. We are just going to start the cleaning/sanitizing process from the source and prevent further contamination.
Step 2: Open the door and windows. You want to start venting that room out ASAP to help with any dry-heaving.
Step 3: Gather up everything that you possibly can to throw in the washing machine (including shoes!) You want to get as much out of that room as fast as possible.
Step 4: Return to the room equipped with a Walmart bag and Clorox wipes. Start picking up, cleaning up and rubbing down everything, starting with the obvious places. Then move onto frequently touched surfaces that might have been contaminated that aren't showing signs such as door handles. Don't forget to check the wall behind the door and the actual door.
Step 5: Check everywhere you can think of...closets, inside drawers etc.
Step 6: Check the carpet for any wet spots because those 2 things usually go together.
Step 7: Spray the carpet with some kind of Oxy solution and let it sit.
Step 8: Wash your now-neglected children and get them out of the shower. Be sure to give your hands a good wash too.
Step 9: Sanitize any toys that are out with the clorox wipes.
Step 10: Take any sippy cups or snack cups down to the sink
Step 11: Worst for last in my opinion...start cleaning the carpet. The best way (confirmed by my carpet guy) Is to dab and wipe up as much as you can over and over before scrubbing the heck out of it.
Step 12: Wash your hands and get the heck out of there for a while.
