Not Sure How I'm Feeling About This Decision

I can tell Sophie and Remi apart when I see either of them instantly. When we are driving in the car or I'm in a different room and I hear someone cry I know exactly who it is. Their cries are different, their mannerisms are different, and their faces look slightly different to me. Their personalities are very different as well. When Remi gets excited she moves her whole body and makes noise. When Sophie gets excited she smiles and pulls her arms in close and scrunches up. Kevin and I have no problem telling them apart in person. HOWEVER....looking back at their pictures is a bit more challenging. Babies grow and change so fast, and depending on the angle they can look chubby or thing. They can look exactly alike and it isn't always so easy to tell who's who. I am usually at least 90% sure which girl it is, but with so many pictures it seems impossible to always be 100% sure. It would break my heart if one day one of them asked me if the cute little baby in a picture was them and I couldn't tell them for sure. I want them to have their own baby pictures and be able to look back on the pictures and remember them individually. So...we pierced their ears.

Pearls for Sophie because Kevin gave me my pearls first, and diamonds for Remi because he gave me my diamonds second. It seemed better than picking at random. Soph will get her pearls once we can take these out in 6 weeks. I have never been a big fan of baby ear piercing, because the earrings hurt them when they sleep, they are hard to clean daily, piercing causes unnecessary pain, etc. I always thought I'd let any girls I had get their ears pierced when they were 8 and old enough to take care of them. But it seemed like the best solution unless I wanted to dress them in pink and purple everyday. But look at them, they are pretty stinkin cute!

Of course we couldn't leave out big sis. Too bad she is too busy for pictures these days. This is the best I was able to get.

Valentines

Another Valentines has come and gone. I usually have high expectations for these kinds of days but we have been so worn out from our daily routine that we were happy to keep things low-key. Chloe and her friend offered to babysit so we could go out. I was nervous about leaving the babies of course, but Chloe tackled the job like a pro and even put Wes to sleep. Kevin and I went to dinner and then shopped for the littles. I never would've imagined my life with 3 girls and twins, not to mention that Kevin and I would WANT nothing more than to celebrate Valentine's by shopping for them. It's funny that I never expected my life to take some of these turns but it's the life we built together and I couldn't be more proud of it. I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.
We got Wes a balloon and a little stamp set. We put it in front of her bedroom door so we got to hear her excited reaction when she woke up.

We kind of slacked off on getting the twins Valentines :( Luckily Grandma brought over 3 red balloons and a sugar cookie with everyone's name on it. If you can't tell Wes really loves "Ba-noons" right now.

My dad also brought me some chocolate covered strawberries, yum! I was hesitant to share with Kevin. Twenty-three years later and my dad still gets me a Valentine. He's pretty great.

This year Wes went to her first Valentine's exchange party. I was so excited for her! I think she had more fun playing with all the kids than engaging in holiday festivities. It was a fun day.

4 Months

Today we had the official 4 month check up and both girls are finally on the charts!

Sophie
10lbs 8oz (10%)
23 inches (10%)

Remi
12lbs 3oz (25%)
25 inches (25%)

Needless to say they are still in 3 month clothes, which is a nice change of pace compared to our first, who sprung up like a gentle giant! I am fine with them staying my little babies as long as possible! It's so funny because I always loved putting Weslie in dresses and "grown up outfits" but with the twins I just want to keep them in snuggly jammies and baby clothes all the time.  3-6 months is seriously one of my favorite ages. They love sitting up with help and looking around. They especially love to watch Weslie. Remi has almost mastered holding up her head. Soph is ahead with rolling from tummy to back. They have started drooling the last couple weeks and I am wondering if they are getting teeth early like Weslie did. They both love their swing and playing in their play gym. Chatting with us is their favorite by far. They get so excited and smile and kick whenever we talk with them. They usually enjoy their baths.  My favorite this month has been hearing their first laughs. They are both really ticklish too! Evenings have become my favorite past time with the twins. Everyone has baths/showers and Wes goes to bed and then it's baby time. I love snuggling up with my cozy babies in my warm bed. They nurse and then it's mommy time and we get to stay just like that for as long as we want...with no interruptions. It is so nice to have that quiet time together to look forward to everyday. I have also been lucky enough to have lots of individual time with Wes this month to. She is so fun and curious about everything right now. I lucked out with an awesome mom close by and the best VT ever so the last few weeks have been much more than manageable and I have been able to enjoy each day without getting overwhelmed. What a blessing. This has made it possible for me to not only make sure needs are met but also do fun things with Wes and be the mom I love being. I am feeling extra grateful for the opportunity I have to stay home with the girls. I am there for every milestone. I am the best person to take care of them. I can't believe how much people actually underestimate me. I have heard the phrase "You have 3 kids...." more times from people who are limiting me more than I ever thought I would.  It is the most rewarding and best job in the whole world. Sometimes it's hard, but there's no where I'd rather be than with these sweet ladies.
