Kevin's mom was able to come and visit for Mother's Day. It was great to have her here. We did lots of fun things. Sunday was a beautiful day. Kevin made breakfast for us and we relaxed before heading to church. Church was wonderful and after sacrament meeting I almost forgot that I also got to stand up and receive my delicious chocolate from the youth. Sometimes it seems like it was just yesterday that I was a youth giving out chocolate to the mothers at church, and other times it seems like Weslie has been a part of our family as long as I can remember. I had a lot of time to reflect on Sunday. I couldn't help but think of the day Wes came into the world. We were in complete awe of her. It seemed like we could just sit and look at her tiny little face for hours while she slept there so peacefully.
Becoming a mom was the best thing that has ever happened to me. It completely defines who I am now. It has been the greatest blessing. She relies completely on me and I have such a responsibility to her. Motherhood really clicked for me when I stopped listening to everyone else. You can read all the books on childcare- and I think it's great to have a good background but no one is the expert on Weslie but me. I know her best and I know how to meet her needs. I am lucky that I am able to stay home with her and enjoy her everyday. She set up her own schedule naturally and I am lucky that I can be home to accommodate her routine. It's my job to make sure her needs are met, but who am I to tell her when she's tired or hungry? It's my job to be there when she is. To me this feels natural. We play every day and I get to watch her learn and grow. I am always learning too. We do whatever we feel like, whether it's swimming, snuggling, going for a walk or reading a book. I don't think there's any such thing as spoiling a baby. I'm the one that's spoiled, getting to stay home and enjoy each little sweet moment as she grows up all too fast.
Kevin was very sweet and made me feel special and appreciated all weekend. We missed him all last week as he was out of town for training. I'm glad Melinda came and spent time with us too. We made lots of wonderful memories. It was a wonderful day of reflection and appreciation for so many things. I can't help but thing of my own mom. I am so grateful for all that she has done for me and continues to do. She is the greatest mom and grammy in the world.

So Sweet!
