I always knew this day would come and I have always dreaded it. I was not expecting it to come so soon. Wes seemed fine all morning but when we headed out to the grocery store Poor Weslie threw up all over my mom's car . It was everywhere! Throwing up always hurts and she looked really scared and confused about what was happening. It broke my heart and kept me from going into complete panic and shock at what had just happened. So I drove all the way home holding my breath and having to listen to her cry and sit in her mess. Poor little girl. For those of you who don't know me very well, I have a VERY weak stomach and I am a germ freak so I was not very excited to face the mess. I put walmart shopping bags (I was so unprepared for this moment) on my hands and pulled her out, got her undressed and in the bath. I put her to sleep and she rested. Then I had to face the mess again. I actually did better with it than I thought I would. I held my breath and muscled through it one thing at a time. I stole my neighbor's hose and sprayed down the carseat and left it out in the rain. (Today we went and got the car cleaned and also re-washed the carseat cloth and pressure washed the actual seat. What a mess!) After her nap she still had chills and no appetite. She layed around for a few hours and I pumped her full of liquids. She just sat around with no energy, but didn't cry at all. What a brave girl.
We had been checking her temp periodically through the evening but it kept giving normal or lower than normal temps and she was burning up. Our thermometer was a cheap piece and I knew it had to be wrong. Maybe it was my intuition but I sent Kevin to the store to get a nice infrared thermometer, even if it was just for my peace of mind. When we took her temp with that it said 103!! So we rushed to take her to the nearest CareNow. Where we waited as fast as we could.
The doc stuck a tiny Q-tip way up into her brains while I tried to hold her best I could. So sad. Lucky the tests came back negative for flu and a rash thing. So we got an Rx for an anti-biotic and headed home to go to bed.
Today she woke up happy as ever with no fever or chills, just a little occasional coughing. I'm so glad the heartbreak is over and my baby is feeling better. Today was a much better day than yesterday! Love her!
